Chicana Latina Foundation Leadership and Scholarship Program 2026

Brief Description:

The purpose of the Chicana Latina Foundation (CLF) Leadership and Scholarship Program is to assist Chicana/e and Latina/e college students in completing their undergraduate and graduate education. We are committed to serving Latina/e of all races and from all countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Toward this end, the CLF awards $1,500 scholarships and the accompanying leadership training on a competitive basis, to continuing full-time undergraduate and graduate Latina/e college students from one of the counties we serve in Northern California.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for the CLF Scholarship:
  • Self-identify as a Chicana and/or Latina
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or community college in one of the following California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, Sacramento, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, San Francisco, Sonoma, or Yolo
  • Have lived at least two (2) years in one of the above Northern California counties at the time of application
  • Community College and Undergraduate students must:
  • Be enrolled in a full-time college student (as defined by your institution) when applying and for the 2026-27 academic year,
  • Have completed 12 college units after high school graduation, and
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 college coursework
  • Graduate students must:
  • Be enrolled graduate/professional students completing course/thesis/dissertation; or have been accepted into graduate/profession school; and
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.7 for college course work
  • Commit to attending the CLF Leadership Institutes (July 31, 2026 - August 2, 2026; and January 23, 2027)
  • Commit to attending the CLF Annual Awards Dinner in January 2027
  • Commit to volunteering 10 hours as a CLF ambassador before March 2027.
  • Past CLF awardees may not re-apply until four years after receiving our scholarship.

Supporting Documents Needed
  • Current college transcripts (can be unofficial)
  • One letter of recommendation is required. It can be from a professor/counselor (past or present) or community member, who can speak to your community/civic involvement, leadership qualities, academic achievement, and personal characteristics
  • Graduate students must also include a Resume or CV (curriculum vitae a written overview of person’s experience and other qualifications)
